Brooklyn-based soul singer Eli “Paperboy” Reed has already accomplished a lot in his short career. He’s independently-released two albums, played Lollapalooza, and been nominated as a Breakthrough Artist of the Year at the 2009 Mojo Awards.

Soon enough, he’ll also be able to add a major label release to that list. On August 10th, Reed will unveil his third full-length effort, the 12-song Come And Get It, via Capitol Records in the U.S. (Our friends across the Atlantic will get it starting May 10th via EMI’s Parlophone label).

Produced by Mike Elizondo, the album hears Reed attempting to channel the styles and influences of Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett, and other legendary soul singers.

“For me,” explained Reed, “it’s all about writing pop songs. Soul music was the greatest pop music of the 20^th century and its influence is so far-reaching. When I pick up a guitar to write a song, the influence of the music I love invariably comes out. I can’t sing or write any other way than I do.”

Come And Get It’s title track was recently released and currently sits as BBC Radio 2′s “Record of the Week”. In the build-up to the record’s release, Reed has an extensive schedule for the next three months that will take him from Europe to America. The last concert scheduled so far will be in New York on June 19th.
