The new album, the sinisterly misspelled Deth Red Sabaoth, plans on being another of the grandiose metal albums tinged with blues that Danzig have been pushing for years, expect for the vaguely classical Black Aria II the solo Danzig released in 2006. With song titles like “On A Wicked Night” and “Black Candy”, the 11 track album was recorded throughout 2009 with guitarist Tommy Victor (Prong, Ministry) and drummer Johnny Kelly (Type O Negative, Seventh Void). The LP also sees Danzig take over bass duties for most of the songs and he even takes a spin on the drums. Seems like there’s life in that corpse after all.
“I think that fans will really dig this new album,” Danzig said in press release. “I’ve been told several times that the album has a cool vitality to it, it sounds energized, and I got that feeling when I was recording it. I wanted it to have an organic sound, bigger and thicker, so I went out and bought some 1970′s Kustom tuck ‘n roll bass amps to play some of the guitar parts through. You’ll hear real reverb, real tremolo on this album, which sounds completely different than the stuff that’s done with computer chips.”
The album’s scheduled to be released on May 25th on The End Records. We’ve got a partial tracklist below and will update you with a complete list and a sample of the cover art (which was done by Joe Chiod, who did pin-up girl art for 2007′s The Lost Tracks of Danzig) and the tour dates as they become available.
