Though Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros is an easy target for people wanting to question artistic integrity (isn’t anyone making hippie jams under a pseudonym?), it seems that the American public has bought in to the group’s accessible, feel-good record. In fact, for the second straight week, the group’s debut, Up from Below, has cracked the Billboard 200 for album sales. Of course, with the state of the record industry, it is unclear whether this represents thousands or dozens of albums sold. It is also unclear whether this makes them less or more cool.

Regardless, the Los Angeles outfit is showing no signs of slowing down as its upcoming itinerary features two-and-a-half months of straight touring. The road trip launches May 1st in New Orleans and keeps the tour van on the road through at least August 9th. In addition to its headlining gigs, the band will also make festival appearances at Lollapalooza, Sasquatch!, and Bonnaroo, where Jay-Z will have another chance to check out his new favorite band. Or possibly Beyonce’s new favorite band.
