Best Coast, Southern California’s lo-fi band of the moment, made waves this past Friday to a sold-out show at Schubas in the cozy confines of Chicago. Bethany Cosentino, the darling lead singer, alongside bassist Bobb Bruno, worked the Midwest crowd with their distinct (and highly infectious) beach-pop vibe. The chaotically upbeat openers, Light Pollution, delivered as well, with a bouncing lead singer James Cicero in a pair of cut-off jean shorts. Both bands will certainly make it onto my summertime playlist, because they had me believing — or wishing — it was July.
