Anyway, thanks to the research of TwentyFourBit, we now have a few more details about one of these upcoming projects. It turns out Sonic Youth soundtracked Simon Werner a Disparu, a new teenage murder mystery directed by Fabrice Goberta. Yes, I just used the words “Sonic Youth” and “teenage murder mystery” in the same sentence.
According to a plot synopsis (via TFB), the film centers around the disappearance of Simon Werner and two other teenagers from a small Parisian suburb in March of 1992. Two weeks later, during a “an alcohol fuelled party,” a body is found “in the bushes of a forest. A body that seems lifeless.” Yes, ladies and gentlemen, this is the theme for Sonic Youth’s next music. Lame? Scary? Awesome? Hilarious? All of the above?
At this point, that’s the only info we have. However, the film is set to debut at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, which is set to run from May 12-23, so we’ll probably learn more then.
