The rumors were true! Following the departure of bassist Matt Rubano and guitarist Matt Fazzi, founding Taking Back Sunday members John Nolan (guitar/vocals) and Shaun Cooper (bass) have re-joined the band, TBS confirmed has announced in an official statement.

The lineup, which sees Nolan and Cooper paired with frontman Adam Lazzara, guitarist Eddie Reyes, and drummer Mark O’Connell, is the same one that recorded the band’s breakthrough album Tell All Your Friends. The quintet now plans on creating album number five in Los Angeles this summer with producer Eric Valentine.

Speaking of the reunion, Lazzara said, “This crazy idea came up and once we started exploring it and talking on the phone, it was almost like all that time hadn’t passed between us. Given the history and the years that had passed, I don’t think any of us really knew if hanging out again let alone writing and playing together would actually work. For it to feel so comfortable and effortless so quickly made us realize that we had to give it a chance.”

Nolan and Cooper left Taking Back Sunday in 2003 to form Straylight Run. They have since put that project on indefinite hiatus after agreeing to rejoin Taking Back Sunday.

The band has yet to release any specifics regarding its fifth LP or forthcoming touring, but does plan to do a handful of exclusive preview shows in the near future.
