The Flaming Lips went the literal route for their latest music video. As debuted today on Pitchfork, Embryonic‘s “Powerless” features a young woman blind folded and tied to a chair. What follows is four straight minutes of her trying to escape, complete with a teasing monkey and a seizure. At times, it’s almost too difficult to watch, and if it wasn’t for the Lips’ soundtrack in the background, I may have been tempted to turn it off. In other words, this is not your uber fun, NSFW, “Watching the Planets”-type of video. In fact, Prefix appears to sum it up brilliantly when noting, “Expect happier fun times on the Flaming Lips’ North American tour this summer, which apparently sticks closer to their balloons-and-streamers incarnation of yore.”

Speaking of the band’s North American tour, you can find a complete list of upcoming tour dates below. I think it’s safe to say a few Pink Floyd fans may not be attending.
