Yep, after long time bassist Matt Rubano and guitarist Matthew Fazzi called it quits last month, fans of the Long Island emo pioneers began speculating that Shaun Cooper and John Nolan may rejoin the band.
Cooper and Nolan played bass and guitar, respectively, on Taking Back Sunday’s 2002 debut, Tell All Your Friends. That album broke into the Billboard Top 200 in 2003 and is considered quintessential emo.
While no official statement has been released, a video (see below) posted by the band on March 31th features the remaining band members shooting pistols and rifles alongside Cooper and Nolan. Scrolling text at the end of the video reads, “Sometimes it takes some time to remember where you were headed in the first place and the people you intended to go there with. There’s no hard feelings, just the future.”
No tour dates have been announced yet, but this summer should prove to be the perfect convergence of Taking Back Sunday’s tween fans and the now-30-somethings who spent hours remembering the words to “You’re So Last Summer”.
For now, check out the video and see for yourself.
