We’ve been pretty persistent about counting down the date (June 8th) until the new Tokyo Police Club album Champ. As every detail comes to light, we happily pass it along to you. You know the general vibe they’re going for is one of maturity and confidence, but now here’s something you can actually use: A tracklist and album art. Are you as excited as we are?

In one of the better descriptions of the album, bassist/lead singer Dave Monks said the album would be full of “fuzzy bigs, canadian spelling, hockey sound effects, me singing the lowest note in my range, [and] one (1) saxophone note.” Add on the top that the whole shebang is meant to sound like a “Disney movie,” and you can see why we’re so stoked. Even more impressive is the fact that the band have signed to Dine Alone, which will handle all the distribution of the album in Canada, while new label Mom+Pop keeps the States locked down. Not only that, but the label comes out via the TPC’s own label, Mean Beard. Not bad for a band on only its sophomore album, but nothing trumps the label of “Canadian indie Disney rock album.”

Along with the tracklist and album art (which you can see below and above respectively), Tokyo Police Club’s on tour this summer, including gigs with Passion Pit and all the pre-requisite festival dates. Champ is available June 8th via Mean Beard.
