Anyone who has ever seen Broken Social Scene perform live can tell you that the Canadian outfit’s live performance is like none other. It’s flawless. It’s enthusiastic. It’s inspiring.
So, when watching the band’s performance of “Forced to Love” on the Late Show with David Letterman last night, the only thing that really came across as a surprise is how ol’ Dave managed to squeeze 10 BSS members on the stage, while still leaving enough room for Brendan Canning to throw a kick about mid-way through.
Everything else — the guitar work, dueling vocals, and intensity — was as brilliant as usual, a replication of BSS’ in-studio sound and then amping it up a 1,000 notches. Seriously, after watching this, how can you not want to head to NPR.org and stream Forgiveness Rock Record in its entirety?
Speaking of Forgiveness Rock Record, the band’s fourth LP is set for release on May 4th via Arts & Crafts. See them on tour, too.
