The recently-reunited Specials did a relatively high-profile warm-up gig for their Coachella set this Friday: Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. Last night, for their first stateside performance (and first U.S. television performance, almost to the date) in 30 years, The Specials broke out “A Message to You, Rudy”, their classic version of Dandy Livingston’s “Rudy, a Message to You”.

While chief songwriter and keyboardist Jerry Dammers is not with the band on its reunion tour, the rest of the original lineup is. Well, aside from vocalist Neville Staples, who is missing from this performance; roadie Trevor Evans replaces him. Still, the band sounds good here (turn up your volume a little though), and everyone looks legitimately pleased to be performing, which is always good news.

The Specials also stayed for a web-exclusive performance of “Little Bitch”, which is a much more energetic song and is more likely to get you pumped for the tour, especially if you aren’t familiar with them. Check out both performances below.
