It took a while, aka six years, but Los Angeles based trio Autolux is finally ready to release its sophomore studio album. Due for release on August 3rd via TBD Records in North America and Japan, and ATP Recordings everywhere else, Transit Transit promises to be a “deep and profound world in which to immerse yourself.”

So what’s that mean? Well, an issued press releases uses descriptions like “utterly unique concussion of rhythm,” “organic futurism,” and “propulsive grooves and atmospheric chord changes.” And continuing with the out-of-this world description is an equally eclectic set of instrumentation, as the band employed everything from vintage synthesizers and manipulated ambience to an old freezer slamming shut and a simple round of chords from an upright piano in creating the album’s 10 tracks. At the very least, it looks like Autlox is an early candidate for most creative outfit of the year.

Autolux will support the release with a North American tour this fall. Exact dates are still forthcoming. In the meantime, check out Transit Transit‘s tracklist below. The album’s first single, “Audience No. 2″, was released all the way back in 2008. Plus, songs like “Census”, “Kissproof”, and “High Chair” have been performed live in recent months. So there are your early previews.
