Beach House unveils new song, “White Moon”

Last month, Beach House guitarist Alex Scally told CoS that the band’s third LP, Teen Dream, made him the “proudest of anything I’ve ever made,” and that he imagined “the next record will be far better.”

Last night, those in attendance at the band’s sold-out show at New York City’s Webster Hall were treated to a preview of what that next record might actually sound like.

In this video (see below), Victoria Legrand tells the capacity crowd, “We’re gonna play a song that we’ve never played before live.”  What follows is “White Moon” – a brand new track that picks up where Teen Dream’s “Take Care” left off.

The four-minute track starts with the trademark twinkling organ we’ve come to know and love from the Baltimore based duo. Legrand quickly lays down the first verse, and Scally adds dreamy guitar picking just as Daniel J. Franz’s sample-esque drumming kicks in.

Unless you have tickets to the band’s next two sold-out U.S. shows, this video is the best chance you have at seeing their brand new song since their U.S. tour wraps up on May 7 with a sold-out stop at Philadelphia’s First Unitarian Church.

The band then grabs their passports to play a show in Mexico before hitting the European festival circuit over the summer.  Tickets for some of their North American dates are available via Ticketmaster.com.
