Enrollees will access the Univserity through thefunkuniversity.com, where there is a virtual campus, complete with lecture hall, auditorium, classrooms, and online library. The comprehensive website details the students’ experience, including, “Weekly lectures on music history and funk from Prof. Bootsy, discussions on rhythm and creativity from music’s finest, exercises and lessons from F.U. Professors, student playing reviews by Prof. Bootsy and the F.U. staff…” The adjunct-faculty will include guest musicians such as John B. Williams, Three Ram Jam, and former band mate and drummer Frankie “Kash” Waddy.
Classes for the school begin July 1st and enrollment is on a first come, first serve basis. For a complete mission statement (and liberal use of the word ‘funk’), check out Prof. Collins’ video here.
Somebody say “Is F.U. a good idea?” We say, “Is 7 up? P-funk!”
