CAWCAWALBUM

We here at CoS have made no secret of our nerdy tendencies. We enjoy music to a geekish absurdity, and we love artists with that kind of devotion. And if there was ever a soulmate for us, it’d have to be Chicago’s CAW! CAW!.

The four high school friends are total geeks, and we’re happy to be able to break you off with a debut of another track from their upcoming debut LP, Bummer Palace. And we wouldn’t be us if we didn’t say this five-minute epic entitled “Sons of Sons of Saviors” is anything but a bummer. Cue the nerdy snorting.

More than just an indie-pop band, the song is a perfect example of their unapologetic influences and devotion to pure sonic sunshine. With the majority of the track made up of a rocking body like some slightly more poppish ’90s alternative anthem, the rest of it is dressed up with a boatload of wailing and lots of bright and strummy guitars. But more interesting than any of that, despite as peppy as it makes us feel, is the ska-like influences and big breaks and transitions. Coupled with everything else, the band further demonstrate that while they may be self proclaimed wastoids, the future is brighter than any song even they could churn out.

Bummer Palace is scheduled to be released May 25th via Trust Tapes.
