Several tracks from Thank Me Later, which is due on June 15, have already leaked but his labels – Universal/Motown and Young Money – have somehow avoided an all-out torrent flood.
His newest single, “Miss Me”, features Lil’ Wayne, and the bevy of guests on Thank Me Later comes as a surprise since the 23-year old Canadian crooner/rapper told MTV that he “isn’t really worried about special guests” and doesn’t really “bank on collaborations unless it makes sense.”
Drake, whose real name is Aubrey Graham, went on to explain the collaborative process like this: “If I get people’s verses back and they don’t coincide with the vision I have, I’ll do the whole album by myself. It’s about linking to me and my story. There’s people that just add to my story.”
Well, Mr. Graham must have clicked with a whole bunch of folks because joining Weezy on the album are Jay-Z, Alicia Keys, and The Dream. In fact, half of the album’s 14 tracks feature another rapper or singer.
The Degrassi High alum’s first single – “Best I Ever Had” — peaked at no. 2 on Billboard’s Hot 100 and has been downloaded over 1.5 million times. He’s currently on tour (tickets available via Ticketmaster.com), so if you can’t wait for three weeks, then go see Weezy’s boy wonder at one of these stops and ask him if you can rap on his next album.
