So about that band Arcade Fire? It looks like that three year wait for new material is just about over.
As first hinted at by an Amazon.com listing over the weekend and now reported by Australian radio network Triple J, the acclaimed Canadian outfit is set to release a new single titled “Suburbs” “around” June 1st. (In case you’re wondering, that’s just 11 days from now, or 264 hours, or 15840 minutes.) What’s more, the single, which we’re assuming will be packed with a b-side titled “Month of May”, will be released exclusively on 12″ vinyl. …And breathe.
Ready for more? Triple J also reports, citing sources close to the band, that Arcade Fire has set the end of July as a tentative release date for its yet-to-be-titled third LP. No other specifics are known, however, the band reportedly recorded and mixed around 38 songs for the Nick Launay-produced album, which makes the rumors of a double LP sound more plausible.
Meanwhile, Arcade Fire continues to build up its summer tour schedule. As Joel’s Arcade Fire Blog points out, the band recently announced a June 28th performance at Senaatintori in Helsinki, Finland. Find a complete list of upcoming tour dates below.
