So, if you live in New York City, you’ve got a chance to see five billion shows this summer with Summerstrage, Celebrate Brooklyn and the like. But, because you’re so spoiled, it’s probably not enough. No, you say, you want more shows. You can’t be satisfied with the likes of Passion Pit or Broken Social Scene. And while we shouldn’t be an enabler in your sick musical obsession, we just can’t help but let you know about the latest summer shindig at Governors Island.

“Gone to Governors” is going to be a weekly Saturday show sponsored by Converse and booked by the Bowery Presents. Held at The Beach at Governors Island, the series of shows already has quite an impressive early lineup: Yeasyaer will play June 5th, while Neon Indian takes the stage August 14th. If that weren’t enough, She & Him actually play July 4th, a Sunday (God bless America, indeed). Oh yeah, and the best part? Most of these shows will be free — the exception being the Local Natives show, which is still a bargain at just $10.

For more information on tickets, ferry schedules, and more, visit The Beach’s official site. As always, stay tuned for more updates on the series.

“Gone to Governors” 2010 Dates:
06/05 – Yeasayer
07/04 – She & Him
08/07 – Local Natives
08/14 – Neon Indian
