Lollapalooza

Yesterday, the Chicago Sun-Times reported that organizers for the Chicago based Lollapalooza have expanded the festival grounds from 80 acres to 115 acres, which would allow daily attendance to grow from last year’s total of 75,000 to a mind-blowing 95,000.

Lollapalooza has since responded to the report via its Facebook page and noted that some of the information reported in the Sun-Times article is inaccurate. “Contrary to what was reported 60,000 more people cannot attend. With this new space, we add 35 more acres (40% more space) & capacity will increase 10-15%. This expansion allows us to improve crowd flow, make Perry’s bigger & better, and make Chow Town even tastier,” the statement reads.

If our math is accurate, that would mean daily attendance would only increase by 7,500 – 11,250, as opposed to the reported 20,000. Either way, get ready for bigger crowds.

Lollapalooza 2010 takes place from August 6-8 in Chicago’s Grant Park. Find the complete lineup here.
