Brooklyn’s Apache Beat took New York City by storm more than two years ago fueled by synth drones, distorted guitars, and the vocal adrenaline of Ilirjana Alushaj. The band has since opened for Gossip, Crystal Castles, and the School of Seven Bells, and garnered massive critical praise — all without a debut LP.
With the release of single “Tropics / Your Powers Are Magic” in late 2007, Apache Beat also drew the attention of producer Martin Bisi and mixer John Agnello, each of Sonic Youth fame. They are now finally ready to debut a full length album, Last Chants. Set for release October 8th, the effort features contributions from members of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Rapture, and Lightspeed Champion. So… definitely a debut worth your anticipation.
The track listing has yet to be announced for the 13-track album, but expect tracks “Knives” , “Tropics”, “Your Powers Are Magic”, “Nightwaters”, “Fear of Falling”, and live-favorite “Another Day” to all appear. The five-piece also recently announced an appearance at this year’s Sonic Music Festival on Coney Island June 17th. Expect more news to follow as a track listing and expanded tour are expected to be announced.
