Elvis Costello began the year touring North America; that just wrapped up with a show featuring the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, and he’s headed for Europe this summer, so one might say 2010 is already pretty full of Costello. But there’s more yet to come from the 55-year-old rock star. He has not one, but two releases set to round out the year.

Slicing Up Eyeballs reports Costello will have a compilation for sale called Pomp & Pout: The Universal Years, which comes out June 29th on Hip-O Select. And just to make sure we’re all thinking of him come year’s end, Costello is also releasing the followup to 2009′s Secret, Profane & Sugarcane in the fall — October 5th to be exact.

The compilation is mostly void of details at the moment, but its namesake is a lyric from Costello’s 2004 single “Monkey to Man” from The Delivery Man. Obviously, it comprises material from his years with Universal Records, so that means anything from his 1998 collab with Burt Bacharach, Painted from Memory, to his 2008 Imposters album, Momofuku.

The new album, also with a yet-to-be-released track list, is called American Ransom and will be out on Hear Music. A wiki at the fan site ElvisCostello.info has The Imposters, The Sugarcanes, and singer-songwriter Jim Lauderdale potentially being involved with the LP.

Costello recently debuted a new track called “Jimmie Standing in the Rain” on public radio, which you can check out here. And if you’re not completely out of your mind, you’ll be watching Costello pay tribute to Paul McCartney later today, also over the public airwaves.
