Of course, it isn’t too often Rage Against the Machine and Conor Obsert on the same bill, but there’s good reason for it. As previously reported, de la Rocha is the leader “Sound Strike”, a campaign advocating that bands boycott Arizona until the aforementioned bill — SB1070 — is overturned. Oberst is a vocal supporter of the campaign and has already scheduled a separate benefit concert to be held in Nebraska.
Tickets for the event have not yet been announced, but all proceeds will go toward “Sound Strike” and its corresponding “Sound Strike Fund”. According to an issued press release, these proceeds will provide “much needed resources to community organizations, student groups, legal defense funds and assist activists targeting key voting districts for voter registration.” Update: Tickets — priced at $50 — will be available Monday, July 19th at 10:00 AM PST via Livenation.
We’ll update you when more information becomes available.
