In an interview with the Connecticut-based Danbury News Times (via RIO!B), frontman Rivers Cuomo said the band would release the album September 14th. The effort, their first since leaving long-time label Geffen Records, will be released on an independent label the band will announce in the near future. As for the album itself, Cuomo and Co. have been working hard to accurately describe just how rocking the album will be.
“I’ve spent the entire morning trying to come up with a name for the record,” Cuomo said. “How does Heavy Mental sound? There’s definitely going to be more raw rock energy on this one.”
As always, stay tuned for more album news and details as it’s announced. In the mean time, go see the band live at several major festival dates this summer, including Osheaga and the Mile High Festival.
