Fact: The National have been touring in support of High Violet for a good six months now. Yet only recently have Brooklyn’s finest decided to offer “You Were a Kindness”, a previously unreleased piano ballad which appears to come from the High Violet sessions.

According to Wikipedia, the song was first debuted on July 7th in The Netherlands. More recently, the band performed it during an appearance on 88.93 The Current in Minnesota and, as Pitchfork points out, a high quality recording is now available.
