The song is a four-and-a-half minute, crestfallen cacophony just about as unnerving as some of Reznor’s most recent work with How To Destroy Angels. Using a goose bump inducing string part and deep bass tones, Reznor and Ross – who most recently composed the score for The Book of Eli – have set a very dark tone for the film, and if a movie about Facebook sounds a little weird too you, don’t worry.
Reznor himself admitted the idea was a little sketch on his blog, posting that he wasn’t quite sure what would draw Fincher to direct the film. He added that he changed his stance after reading the script and asked Ross to join him on the project. The rest is history.
No release date has been set on the soundtrack, but Reznor seems to think that the score would be available “a couple weeks ahead” of the film’s debut.
Check out the song below and then peep the teaser for the film, which Rolling Stone film critic Peter Travers said in a Twitter message is the first film he’s “given a f— about in 2010.”
