Musicians can be fickle entities; sometimes no amount of fame, money, or fan support can elicit a response. But somehow a well arranged charity event can pull at the most rigid of heart strings. This year alone, Gilmour reunited with Waters, Jeff Mangum came out of hiding, The Who performed a trial run of Quadrophenia, and almost everyone with a mic tried to raise money for Haiti. The latest example will in the form of  Elvis Costello and his former producer Nick Lowe, as the two music legends will soon reunite to help raise contributions for the Richard de Lone Special Housing Fund.

On October 1st, at both 8 and 11 pm, the duo will host Costello Sings Lowe/Nick Sings Elvis at San Francisco’s American Music Hall, reports Slicing Up Eyeballs. The name accurately describes the event, as Costello will perform songs written by Lowe, and vice versa. Of course, both men are already pretty familiar with one another’s material; Lowe produced Costello’s first five albums, plus 1986’s Blood and Chocolate. What’s more, Costello’s 1979  hit “(What’s So Funny ‘Bout) Peace, Love and Understanding” was originally written by Lowe in 1974.

Tickets for the event, which cost $125 or $200 (the latter includes dinner before the 8 pm show) are on sale now at gamhtickets.com. Proceeds will help benefit the previously mentioned Richard de Lone Special Housing Fund, a nonprofit organization with the mission of establishing a state-of the-art residential group home in San Francisco.
