Back in 1998, Josh Homme’s new band Queens of the Stone Age was in its infant stages. The band’s lineup hadn’t solidified, the sound was only the bare-bones of what it would become, but the pieces were there for QotSA to become one of the most intelligent and stand-out rock acts of the 2000′s, pushing the envelope with their forthcoming albums Rated R and Songs For The Deaf. Can their hard to find self-titled debut stand alone as separate pillar of awesome, or is it merely a stepping stone for the band for achieving the greatness of their next two albums?

You can find out late this fall when Homme’s own Rekords Rekords re-release their self-titled debut on vinyl November 26th (Black Friday), and CD December 7th (D-Day), ostensibly so you can avert your focus towards the genesis of something that actually rocks. Anti Music reports that the vinyl release touts a “a 180 gram double-gatefold, colored vinyl release packaged with a CD version, so definitely more bang for your buck there.

Queens Of The Stone Age was originally released September 22, 1998 and, fun fact, Homme played bass and guitar on the recording. Previously re-released was their sophomore album Rated R.
