Spin reports QOSTA collaborator Alain Johannes and Last Shadow Puppets served as the evening’s surprise openers. Plus, Eagles of Death Metal performed too, and were even joined by O’Connor, who put off a night of treatment in order to perform with his bandmates. A stellar under card for sure, but seeing that folks spent as much as $250 to see the headliner, let’s focus on them for a bit.
Queens of the Stone Age performed a 19-song set, opening with the Era Vulgaris track “Misfit Love”. “Sick Sick Sick” followed and then “Feel Good Hit of the Summer”, off their recently reissued Rated R. The career retrospective also included “Burn the Witch”, “Little Sister”, and “3′s and 7′s”, and the main set was capped off with “I Think I Lost My Headache”. Oh, yeah, and then there was the encore, which happened to see longtime Queens of the Stone Age vocalist and current Isobel Campbell & Mark Lanegan co-conspirator, Mark Lanegan, reunite with his former bandmates.
