For most people, using the word “haterade” (as in “Hey, Jeff, stop drinking that haterade; Foghat is cool!”) is instantly cringe-worthy. However, when the likes of Gucci Mane, Nicki Minaj, and Pharrell Williams make a track called “Haterade”, there’s nothing to do but take a big old swig (via Miss Info).
While haterade apparently tastes like lemonade, we submit that this song is a lot sweeter, with a beat like bubblegum courtesy of Pharrell and his angelic crooning. Even Gucci sounds less in-your-face then he normally does. Then again, Minaj seems pretty hostile, but she was probably wearing a geisha outfit and red wig when she recorded it, so don’t read too much into that.
Enjoy the track below. If you want more, Mane’s album, The Appeal: Georgia’s Most Wanted, hits stores September 28th via 1017 Brick Squad/Warner Bros. Records.
