After putting on a HARD NYC performance that our own Drew Litowitz called “worse than awful,” it looks like M.I.A. is finally going to try and make good on her on-again, off-again promise of giving New York a free makeup show.

If you don’t remember, the 35-year-old MC sent out a Twitter message following her abysmal HARD NYC set that read, “f**k it! Im gonna do a free show in nyc when I get back…if you still have the hard ticket u free!” However, after scheduling a paid show at Terminal 5 in New York City, M.I.A. appeared to renege on the claim by saying that there would be no free show until her mother – who M.I.A. says is “viewed as a threat to national security: by the U.S. – is allowed to come to the show.

Well, after better performances at Saturday’s Virgin Mobile Freefest and last night’s rain-delayed show at Terminal 5, M.I.A. has finally committed herself to a date and venue for the free show, which will take place at the Brooklyn Bowl on October 6th. A press release says, “tickets are on Maya” and that admittance to the age-restricted show (18+) will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Lining up starts at 7 p.m., and doors open at 9:30 p.m. Capacity at the venue is only 600, so get there early if you want a spot. Support for the free show hasn’t been announced, but Baltimore-based MC Rye Rye is opening up for M.I.A. at tour stops through October 12th.
