Even though it’s the first week of September, temperatures are still in the 90s (at least in New York), and a hurricane is coming!, it’s time to get in the holiday spirit! After all, Stone Temple Pilots’ leader Scott Weiland already is, revealing in a recent interview  that he’s in the middle of recording a full-length Christmas album. Really, really.

The record will contain traditional, jazz-style arrangements. When we say traditional, we’re talking strings, upright bass, jazz horns, and piano. “I’m picking various versions of these songs because they’ve been covered so many times,” said Weiland.

While most of the LP won’t deviate much from what’s well-known, he is throwing some twists in too, such as a reggae adaptation of “Little Drummer Boy.” One or two secular songs will also be included.

This isn’t the first time Weiland has dabbled in music for the holidays. Last year, he surprised many by releasing a cover of “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas” as a single. No word on a release date for the album but if I were you, I’d put my money on December. Just a hunch.
