In 1995, when The Who reissued and expanded their landmark album The Who: Live At Leeds, it was very exciting. In 2001, when The Who reissued and expanded their landmark album The Who: Live At Leeds, it was still very exciting. And in 2010, when The Who will reissue and expand their landmark album The Who: Live At Leeds, yeah, it’s continually very exciting.

This year, Geffen/Universal will release a “Super Deluxe” four-CD box set of the concert on November 16th (via Direct Current). The new reissue will include the complete 150-minute version of the February 14th Leeds University concert found on the 2001 reissue, as well as a double CD of the recording from the fabled February 15th , 1970, Hull City Hall concert. Check out a “I’m A Boy” bootleg from the Hull show below.

The Hull City Hall show is considered by the band to be a superior performance, and was planned to be the actual live album, but was shelved due to “technical difficulties” in the recording. Direct Current points out that “in both shows was the complete performance of the band’s iconic rock opera, Tommy, though none of the songs appeared on the original Live at Leeds album, which instead favored three notable covers: ‘Shakin’ All Over’, the classic ‘Summertime Blues’, and a version of Mose Allison’s ‘Young Man Blues’”.

Now, it wouldn’t be “Super Deluxe” without some rad swag, so the box set also includes a reproduction of the original vinyl album in heavyweight vinyl, a 64-page hardcover book with pics, memorabilia, and recording notes from the shows, a seven-inch 45 single of “Summertime Blues” b/w “Heaven and Hell” in a color sleeve, and a Pete Townshend poster.

Now, who wants to get this for me for Christmas?
