For those who lost count, it’s been a full nine years since Aphex Twin released Druqks, his last full-length album. But if you think the musician born Richard David James has been plain chillin’ in the 00′s, think again. In a new interview with fashion magazine Another Man (via Prefix), the electronic artist revealed that his lull in releases is not due to a lack of material

“I’ve got six albums completed. Two are very non-commercial, abstract, modular-synthesis, field recordings – those I finished four years ago. Another one is Melodies From Mars, which I redid about three years ago. There’s one of stuff I won’t go into; a comp of old tracks which is never really finished and always changing; and then one I’m working on now. There are also loads of tracks which don’t belong anywhere,” explained James.

James did not share actual specifics as to when we might hear any one of these six releases. But if you combine the above quote with the suspenseful news that Warp Records has signed James for another album, it’s pretty clear that we’ll hear at least some new Aphex Twin in the near future. Plus, there’s that whole thing with Kanye, too.
