Once upon a time, there was this thing called punk music. It was aggressive, idealistic, fast, short, and scared pretty much everyone. Most people didn’t understand it, so it remained on the fringe of society for many years, making the bands and people involved seek out alternative venues and performance spaces to house punk shows. At the center of this was CBGBs. I’m sure you’ve seen the letters before on a $30 t-shirt at Urban Outfitters, which is unfortunately all that is really left of the iconic New York club. But those letters are valuable, and they are for sale.

According to PunkNews.org, “The estate of late CBGB founder Hillel Kristal are looking for buyers who would be “best for the brand and Hilley’s legacy.” This is good, being that they sold it once already to a marketing group who have since gone bankrupt and never paid for their purchase. I think the estate would probably be wiling to bend on the intentions of the buyer for someone with good credit.

If you’re wondering why the venue wasn’t included, well, it has been shutdown since the 2006 final show with Patti Smith. But when you write Santa in a few weeks, your own punk brand is now totally attainable, though any of the ideals that the place once stood for are long disassociated with it.
