Anyone familiar with Minneapolis super group GAYNGS knows they get to be a bit full on stage. Completing the 20+ rotating roster include Justin Vernon and Mike Noyce of Bon Iver, plus members of the Doomtree Collective, Megafaun, and Solid Gold. But while the individuals may practice in varying genres, GAYNGS delivers one of the most honest soft-rock sounds around today. While spending a few dates on the East Coast for their Relayted tour, GAYNGS dropped by Late Night with Jimmy Fallon last night to get those evening hours started off right with “Gaudy Side of Town”.

For the performance, GAYNGS were the definition of “cool”. Stepping up the their mics, which littered the Studio 6B Stage, the collective donned an array of white outfits, many choosing to accessorize with some over-the-top headgear and sunglasses. The track was propelled beautifully leader by Ryan Olson and the auto-tuned vocals of Justin Vernon, but the highlight of the performance may have been the solo courtesy of Micheal Lewis. By the conclusion of the 6:30 track, I think it’s safe to say that most viewers were ready to continue onto their late night activities; be it slumber or some more sensual bedroom activity.
