Ever since Pavement finished their whole thing, Guided By Voices have filled in brilliantly as indie’s favorite nostalgic rockers. First, we brought you word that the Robert Pollard-led outfit were reuniting for the Matador at 21 celebration in Las Vegas. Then, with barely a pause, news hit that the reunion was not a one-off and that Robert Pollard and his band were going to take to the road for a US tour. Hell, there’s even been an announcement regarding a tribute album featuring the likes of The Flaming Lips, Thurston Moore, and Blitzen Trapper amongst others.

As for the latest and greatest announcement from Guided by Voices? How does a New Year’s Eve performance in the Big Apple sound?

Tickets to the New Year’s Eve gig, which takes place at Irving Plaza, will be g0 sale starting Saturday, November 6th at 10AM ET. They’ll cost $72, but hey, it’s Guided by Voices on New Years Eve… so live a little!

This show will be Guided By Voices’ second New York City performance of the year. Currently, they’re set to conclude their current US tour with a sold-out gig at Terminal 5 on November 7th. There’s no word if this newly confirmed show is a one-off or if the band will squeeze some more dates in between the end of the current tour and the end-of-the-year show. You can be sure we’ll let you know if they do decide to add more dates, so check back.
