It’s amazing what a little standup bass and finely picked banjo can do to a crowd. Just check out this video of Mumford & Sons performing “Roll Away Your Stone” on Jimmy Kimmel Live! last night. Marcus Mumford and his band take all the energy of the Sigh No More track and let the audience turn it into one big, hand clap, hop like a pogo stick party. Bassist Ted Dwane all but beheads himself as he headbangs to the music, and nearly every face in attendance is smiling ear to ear. Come to think of it, there was no reason not to smile if you were lucky enough to attend the taping.

The band – who count ?uestlove as one of their many admirers – performed not one, but two songs for the show, and their stage-stomping performance of “The Cave” was equally rousing. The anthemic song’s slow build is the perfect vehicle for Mumford as everyone sang along to, “I’ll find strength in pain/And I will change my ways.” The horn section chimes in for the epic last chorus, and the whole thing is enough to make you want to catch the band during the last stretch of their current U.S. tour.
