Weezer might be remembering the past these days, but that doesn’t mean Rivers Cuomo and co. aren’t keeping on target with their new album ever year trend. As previously reported, the band is already gearing up for the followup to last month’s Hurley, and we’re starting to receive details on what to expect.
Like Hurley and 2009’s Raditude, which featured collaborations with Ryan Adams, Lil Wayne, and All American Rejects, Weezer’s next studio album could also sport some notable guests. Pitchfork recently reported the participation of Male Bonding and now, Rivers Cuomo has confirmed he’ll team up with buzz band Best Coast for a possible album track.
“I definitely really enjoyed working with other musicians, other artists so I continued that process on Hurley. I’m still doing it actually, tomorrow I’m getting together with [Bethany Cosentino] from Best Coast and we’re going to write a song,” explained Cumo in an interview with Australia’s Triple J. “You never know where these songs are going to end up but it could be on the next Weezer record.”
No word on when Weezer’s next album will see release, but based on precedence, expect it before the summer/The Strokes next album. Kanye will probably show up as well.
