Since Fistful of Mercy made their first public appearance back in August, Ben Harper has kept busy promoting the trio’s first album across the late-night line-up, and touring the world alongside Dhani Harrison and Joseph Arthur. But the busy folk-rocker must have found someway to add extra hours to the day, recently announcing plans for a sophomore release alongside his Austin, TX power trio Relentless 7.

Even in the acoustic tunes of FoM, it’s obvious Harper has the soul of a rocker. Harper describes his new release with the Relentless 7, as a venture into “absolute, unapologetic rock music.” Harper first announced the self-produced release last March via his website and if all the details, except a planned fall 2010 release date, still hold true, expect appearances by Ringo Starr and Jackson Browne.

Give it Til it’s Gone now has a tentative release date of March 2011. As more news arrives, as well as any details about the future of FoM, we’ll let you know.
