There’s a song for almost any occasion. Plan on making love in the near future? Try some Teddy Pendergrass. Want to get psyched up to work out? May we suggest Earth Crisis? If you’re looking for some music to get away to, though, we’re going to suggest something new but that should still do the trick: Theophilus London‘s song “Flying Overseas” featuring Dev Hynes (who you’ll know better as Lightspeed Champion) and Beyonce’s sister/Of Montreal collaborator Solange Knowles (via Hypetrak). That should make for a smooth ride.

The song itself has taken quite the trip. After London met Hynes back In December 2009, the two started work on it before they went out west to LA to finish it up. It was there, with Knowles’ vocals, that the track finally came together. The simple, understated ditty is, according to London, “about a kid from Brooklyn having dreams of jetting off to an exotic land with a loved one.” That dreamy quality permeates in London’s slurred flow and minimalist beat. The vocals of Hynes and Knowles, the latter in particular, add a ’80s vibe to the affair and really make leaving it all behind appear that much more appealing.
