On November 4th, Metallica are going to redefine the term jet-setting. Currently touring Australia for the final leg of the “World Magnetic Tour”, the band will make a “super-secret” appearance Thursday at Hanger 8 in Santa Monica, California’s airport for the launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops. Tickets won’t be going on sale for the event, so unless you’re a fan-club member you should probably conceive alternate means onto the airstrip — a move highly discouraged by the FAA.

Not fortunate enough to catch Metallica during the massive tour? We have a solution. On November 12th find a copy Six Feet Under Part II. The sequel to Six Feet Down Under, Part I from earlier this year, part 2 features the “top eight picks from all the 41 songs played during the early part of the Trans-Tasman run this year” (via Metallica.com). The disc will only be available across Australia and New Zealand, if you want to pick it up anywhere else, you’ll have to use the World Wide Web. Those lucky Aussies. Check out the final tracklist below.

Also, we’d be remiss not to mention Meallica’s other upcoming live release, the previously announced Live at Grimey’s. Due for release on November 26th, the eight-track effort features live recordings from Metallica’s Bonnaroo 2008 warmup concert in Nashville, Tennessee.

And If that weren’t enough of a holiday gift, two new Metallica-devoted books will be available for your favorite metal-head. On November 11th, British rock journalist Mick Wall will release his new book, METALLICA – Enter Night: The Biography, exclusively in the the UK. According to the book’s description, it will cover the band’s near-30-year tale of alcohol, rule breaking, and tragic early dealings with death, set against fame, colossal sales figures, and critical acclaim. If you’re just into books for the pictures, go ahead and pick up Ultimate METALLICA. It contains 250 pictures spread across 232 pages of pure metal excess, all courtesy of Ross Halfin. Plus, it has a little added bonus — a forward and afterward penned by Lars Ulrich and Kirk Hammett, respectively.

Maybe we’ll learn at last why Ulrich can be such a tool sometimes.
