Any band deserves to take a break after touring extensively for two years straight, and that’s exactly what Metallica plans to do. Thanks to their successful World Magnetic Tour, which ends in Melbourne on November 21st, the Bay Area metal legends have earned a well-deserved chance to sit back, relax, and take care of more important matters. You know, important matters like writing a new album.
Ok, so maybe that doesn’t necessarily quality as a break, but according to antiMUSIC, drummer Lars Ulrich recently confirmed that a new album is indeed on the agenda. “There’s a bunch of balls in the air for 2011, but I think the main one is we want to get back to writing again.” If and when the record does come to fruition, it’d mark the 10th such one in Metallica’s illustrious 30-year history.
Not to completely count out any chance for more live Metallica shows in the near future, Ulrich has also hinted at plans to turn The Big Four dates at Sonisphere Festival this year into a full-fledged tour. Plus, the band is already confirmed to headline next year’s Rock in Rio Festival in Brazil.
As always, keep checking back with CoS for more information as it comes.
