The flick is an adaptation of a Joe Dunthorne novel about 15-year-old self-obsessed boy whose perception of the world is quite wrong, and while we’re sure the film will be good, Ayoade – who also directed several Arctic Monkeys music videos – seems to be excited about the soundtrack, too. “The music is very good,” he said in an interview: “A very good composer – Andrew Hewitt – did the score, and Alex Turner from the Arctic Monkeys did five new songs, and I think they’re very good.”
What’s even better is that the news confirms a July report that Turner hooked up with Simian Mobile Disco’s James Ford to produce the new songs. Ford is said to have mixed the tracks, but news regarding a release date for a soundtrack is nowhere to be found. Your first crack at the movie comes on January 22nd during a screening at the Prospector Square Theatre in Park City, Utah. Ticketing information is available at Sundance’s official website, and the interview with Ayoade is available for your viewing pleasure below.
