Living at the speed of metal isn’t easy; the combination of booze, babes, and drugs has taken its toll on many young rockers. But through some combination of determination and dumb luck, Lenny Kilmister has managed to survive the lifestyle of being the leader of Motörhead for more than 35 years, and continues to push the genre worldwide. For 2011, the power-trio are planning their 20th studio release (The World is Yours), an extensive world tour, and a behind-the-scenes documentary on their legendary frontman.

Directed by Greg Olliver and Wes Orshoski, Lemmy: 49% Motherfucker, 51% Son Of A Bitch combines candid at-home interviews, studio sessions, and priceless live concert footage to reveal an unprecedented recollection of Lemmy’s world. A world which also boasts “Metallica, Dave Grohl, Ozzy Osbourne, Alice Cooper, Jarvis Cocker, Joan Jett, Billy Bob Thornton, Slash, pro wrestler Triple H, and members of The Clash, Guns ‘N Roses, and Jane’s Addiction.” For a visual preview, check out the trailer below.

After debuting at South by Southwest 2010, the film makes its way to United States megaplexes beginning mid-January. And since the release may prove to be quite limited (screening dates and locations are still forthcoming), a two-disc DVD with four hours of bonus features will be released February 15th. It will also available on BluRay and as a digital download.

And just to keep you updated, The World is Yours will be available in the US January 25th, but if you prefer getting it early, you could always find a European import, where it drops December 13th. In support of the release, Motörhead are currently touring Europe, with a US leg set to begin in late January. Find confirmed tour dates here.
