Coco may have gotten as giddy as a schoolgirl when he finally coaxed Waters into emphatically delivering the line, “If you don’t eat your meat, you can’t have any pudding! How can you have any pudding if you don’t eat your meat?!”, but it was Ebert and his troupe of 21st century hippies that made last night’s episode a must see.
Looking like he was fronting a bunch of reformed gypsies, a nicely-mulleted Ebert shimmied his feet to the sound of his ten-piece band slinking its way through “40 Day Dream”, which is the lead track from the group’s debut LP, Up From Below. It was a bit of bummer that it wasn’t the band’s “new” song, and for one reason or another, the soulful take on the cut lacked some of the energy that has made the Zeros’ live performances sort of legendary. Still, O’Brien must have loved it since he hugged it out with one of the band members after it was all over.
Thanks to the Audio Perv, every minute of it (plus a clip of Waters doing his thing) is available for
