While his most recent musical endeavor may have found him teaming up with Gulliver’s Travels co-star Jason Segel to remake Bing Crosby and David Bowie’s version of “Little Drummer Boy”, Black promises that the subject matter on The D’s still-untitled third LP will be a bit more R-rated. “We’re gonna be talking about love,” he told Spinner, “there’s gonna be some songs about sex and there’s gonna be songs about food.”
Black adds that he and lead guitarist/vocalist Kyle Gass are about halfway through the writing process and “in the middle of the recording process.” As of now, Black doesn’t have plans to release a movie with the upcoming album, but is open to the idea. “This is strictly a musical endeavor,” he says, “but I wouldn’t rule out another film – although it would probably be on a ‘lower-budget.’”
All this is awesome news, so we’ll keep you posted. In the meantime, check out one of our favorite sequences from the Pick of Destiny film below.
