Outside of when David Bowie will headline Coachella, the question most often asked in festival circles is if and when the Rothbury Music Festival will ever return. Following a strong debut in 2008, the Rothbury, Michigan-based festival was riddled with bankruptcy and land issues and after failing to secure a quality lineup in 2010, Rothbury went on an indefinite hiatus. However, according to MLive.com, festival organizers are currently in negotiations to resurrect Rothbury for 2011.

One potential stumbling block is the community’s “dry” ordinance, but according to Rothbury Police Chief Tom Hasper, “the liquor licenses are all ready to go; they’re just waiting for the date.” There’s no word on when a final decision may be made, but MLive.com also reports that organizers met last week with Grant Township Clerk William Wagner to discuss the festival’s return. We’ll let you know what happens.
