Adele is definitely not your typical leading lady. With one of the most robust voices in the industry, the 22-year-old singer-songwriter doesn’t rely on a press worthy dress or drawn out choreography to penetrate a live audience. Last night, Adele captivated The Ed Sullivan Theater, including Dave himself, with an effortless performance of “Rolling in the Deep”, off her sophomore LP, 21. Introduced with a simple, strumming acoustic guitar, the track quickly swells into a driving blues tune led by the fierceness of Adele’s vocals. And it’s all capped off with some gospel-influenced hand clapping.
