It turns out that System of a Down‘s 2011 comeback won’t just be limited to our festival brethren across the Atlantic. In what will be their first live performances since 2006, Serj Tankian and co. will proceed their summer run of European festivals with a series of west coast dates in May. Only dates for Mountain View, CA and Las Vegas have been announced thus far, but The Scenestar reports that shows are also set for Los Angeles and Irvine, California. (Note: The Scenestar also lists a 5/22 date in Chula Vista, which conflicts with the Vegas announcement).

Update: SOAD have officially announced seven dates, with the festivities set to begin May 10th in Edmonton, Alberta. The band will then make their way to Vancouver, Seattle, Mountain View (CA), Denver, and Albuquerque before wrapping May 22nd in Las Vegas. Gypsy punk rockers Gogol Bordello will provide support on all dates.
