Björk describes the project as a “multi-media project encompassing music, apps, internet, installations and live shows,” and she plans the preview the material during a six-show, three-week residency this summer at the Campfield Market Hall in Manchester, England (via P4K). An issued press release goes on to note that the concerts will include “a bespoke digitally-controlled pipe organ; a 30 foot pendulum that harnesses the earth’s gravitational pull to create musical patterns– creating a unique bridge between the ancient and the modern; a bespoke gamelan-celeste hybrid; and a one-off extraordinary pin barrel harp.” Sounds like a Rammstein set-up.
There’s no ETA on when Biophilia will see release, but it does mark Björk’s second project announced for 2011.
